Power Platform consultants in Sydney

TechRam builds automation for Sydney mid-market organisations on the Power Platform and on Azure, and picks between them by what the process needs. Power Automate and Power Apps suit light work a team owns itself. When an automation carries a whole process, at volume, with an audit trail, we build it on Azure instead.

Power Automate, or Azure?

Power Automate is the right tool for a flow a team can own: a reminder, an approval, a notification when something changes. Plenty of automation should stay that simple.

When the automation is carrying a whole process, we build it on Azure. Achieve Australia’s onboarding pipeline runs on Azure Functions and Service Bus, creates accounts through Microsoft Graph, and logs every step for the audit. It runs in Achieve’s own Azure tenant, and it’s billed per use, not per seat.

The question we ask is who has to own it once it’s built, and what happens when it fails.

Power Apps: when the form is an application

Power Apps is the default recommendation, and it’s often too much. It’s right when the form is an application: offline capture, complex logic, a different screen per role. When a formatted list form will do, we’ll build that instead, because it’s one less thing to maintain and licence.

Power BI: reporting on what’s already there

LGP’s weekly executive pack used to be assembled by hand from a spreadsheet one person owned. It now builds itself from the SharePoint lists we built, and LGP’s own data lead runs Power BI straight against them.

The record stays in your tenant

Whichever tool does the work, the record it produces stays in your tenant, with an owner and a state, and Copilot can answer from it later. See Registers & Trackers and Custom Operational Apps for how we scope it.

Common questions

01. Why would you build on Azure instead of Power Automate?

When the automation carries a whole process. Azure handles volume, retries and a proper audit trail, and it's billed per use rather than per seat. Power Automate is the better fit when a team needs to own and change a light flow itself.

02. Should we use Power Apps or a SharePoint list form?

A list form, more often than people expect. Power Apps is right when the form is an application, with offline capture, complex logic or a different screen per role. If you only need to hide a few fields and add a date rule, it's a second thing to maintain and licence.

03. Who looks after it once you've finished?

Your team. Everything is built in your tenant and documented so your own people can maintain it. If you'd rather we kept improving it, Run & Improve is a retainer you can end.

04. What does Power Platform work cost?

A fixed price, not a day rate, agreed in writing before work starts. The first engagement is usually The SharePoint Audit, and the build is priced against what it found.
